CHRISTMAS DECORATION COMPETITION FOR SHOPS AND HOSPITALITY: 3,600 EUROS IN PRIZES

The Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council has opened the registration period for the 2025 Christmas Decoration Contest , aimed at shops and restaurants in the municipality. This initiative, which fills the city with festive cheer every year, offers €3,600 in prizes this year, distributed among three awards: a week-long cruise , a trip to Europe , and a rural getaway for two.

 

Registration until December 4th

All business owners in Rivas Vaciamadrid who have a physical premises open to the public and have a shop window or interior space that can be decorated will be able to participate.
Registration is free and can be completed through the form available at inscripciones.rivasciudad.es until December 4, 2025 , coinciding with the closing date of the general Christmas campaign.

To participate in the competition, it will be necessary to accept the rules and display the participating establishment's badge in a visible place, which will be delivered before December 5th along with the rest of the promotional materials.

 

Shop windows visible from December 15th

The decorations must remain on display between December 15, 2025 and January 1, 2026 , both inclusive.
During the month of December, a photographer will visit the registered establishments to record a 15-second video , which will be part of the public gallery on the municipal website of the campaign: www.rivasnavidad2025.es , in the section “Shop Window Competition”.

 

Professional evaluation and jury

The selection of the three winning establishments will be made by a jury composed of:

  • 1 representative from the Department of Economic Development

  • 1 representative from the press office specializing in design

  • 1 representative from the Rivas merchants' association

  • 1 representative from the contracted communications company

The decision will be announced at a public event during the second week of January 2026 , at which the awards will also be presented, following the health requirements in force at that time.

 

Assessment criteria

Each shop window can obtain a maximum score of 100 points , distributed as follows:

  • Design, assembly and selection of decorative materials: up to 50 points

  • Originality and innovation: up to 25 points

  • Lighting: up to 25 points

 

Awards

The three highest-rated shop windows will receive:

  • First prize: Cruise for two people

  • Second prize: Weekend trip in Europe for two people

  • Third prize: Rural getaway for two people
