OPEN DOORS AT THE "MARY TEALBY" CENTER TO PROMOTE ADOPTION
2026/01/14
Next Saturday, January 17th, the Mary Tealby municipal animal shelter will hold another open house and adoption event in Rivas-Vaciamadrid. The event, which will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, is designed to familiarize the community with the work done at the shelter and to give dogs and cats a chance at a new home.
The event, organized by the animal shelter Rivanimal, will include adoptions, a dog show, a cat show, a charity market, and information sessions for those interested in volunteering. Throughout the morning, anyone wishing to adopt can come without an appointment to meet the animals, ask questions, and receive detailed information about the adoption process.
Adoption, talks and guided tour
One of the highlights will be the dog show, scheduled for 1:00 p.m., where some of the dogs available for adoption will be presented. At the same time, the cat lounge will remain open throughout the event, offering a peaceful space to meet cats looking for homes.
At 12:00 PM, Rivanimal will offer a volunteer recruitment talk, exclusively for adults. The talk will explain the different ways to collaborate with the center and the fundamental role that volunteers play in the daily care of the animals.
Later, at 1:00 p.m., a guided tour of the facilities will take place. Due to limited capacity, prior registration is required for this activity. To participate, please request a place by emailing info@rivanimal.org.
Volunteering and sponsorship programs
The organization reminds everyone that volunteering is reserved for adults. For minors or families with children, there is the option of participating through the sponsorship program, which allows them to support the animals at the center in a personalized way. Information about this program is also available via email at Rivanimal.
Charity market and upcoming events
Throughout Saturday morning, the public can visit the charity market, whose proceeds go entirely to the care of the animals at the center. In addition, Rivanimal will be present on Sunday, January 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the municipal market on Avenida de Profesionales de la Sanidad Pública, with its monthly dog adoption event and an information stand.
Finally, we would like to remind everyone that the feline adoption fair is held every Saturday at the Mary Tealby Centre, a permanent opportunity for those who are thinking of giving a cat a home.
