RIVAS PRESENTS ITS COMMITMENT TO YOUNG AND SMART TOURISM AT FITUR
2026/01/14

Rivas-Vaciamadrid is attending the FITUR 2026 International Tourism Fair with a clear message: the city aims to establish itself as an attractive destination for young people through innovation, culture, and nature. Under the slogan "Rivas, a youth destination," the municipality will present a smart tourism platform, which will be the centerpiece of its stand, located in Hall 9 of IFEMA, from January 21 to 25 .

Nature trails through the Southeast Regional Park, an urban art museum that grows every year, major concerts at the Miguel Ríos Auditorium, the regular programming at the Pilar Bardem Auditorium, and the historical memory of the Battle of Jarama are some of the pillars that support this tourism offering. It's an option designed for a young, active audience interested in authentic experiences.

A platform that personalizes the visitor experience

The new smart tourism tool is funded with European funds and represents an investment of €1.9 million. The project is part of an initiative promoted by SEGITTUR, under the State Secretariat for Tourism, and aims to expand and modernize the tourism offerings of Rivas-Vaciamadrid through the use of advanced technologies.

Through this platform, visitors to the city can access personalized services based on their preferences, whether it be nature, live music, urban culture, or historical heritage. The idea is that each visitor will find options tailored to their profile and can plan their stay easily and intuitively.

Digital twin to improve mobility and events

One of the most innovative developments is the creation of a digital twin, which will allow for real-time management of vehicle and pedestrian traffic at large events. This tool will be crucial for large gatherings such as the concerts at the Miguel Ríos Auditorium during the May festivities or festivals like Río Babel, which is celebrating its second consecutive edition in Rivas.

Beyond mobility, this technology will optimize the organization of large-scale events, reduce their environmental impact, and improve the experience of those who attend, resulting in a more efficient city better prepared to accommodate large crowds.

Impact on the local economy

Having a platform that enhances the tourist experience also provides a direct boost to the local economy. Businesses and the hospitality sector will benefit from a greater influx of visitors who are better informed and have options tailored to their interests, thus strengthening the economic fabric of Rivas-Vaciamadrid.

Meeting with a "Foreign Traveler"

On Thursday, January 22nd, at 12:30 pm, the Rivas stand will host an open meeting with Elena Herráiz and Víctor Gata, creators of the 'Viajero Extranjero' (Foreign Traveler) account, which boasts over one million followers on Instagram and half a million on TikTok. They will share their nomadic lifestyle and how they have turned their passion for travel into a profession. This event reinforces Rivas' commitment to connecting with young audiences through new formats and digital channels.
